Just another day in Paradise

Ms. Shelagh is going shopping

An interesting pond at the art gallery

After today's morning coffee and tea we decided to go to the "Fábrica de la Aurora" an art gallery of enormous proportions. Many artists, mostly American, have studios here and also teach art classes. The art for sale covers pretty much every one's taste and you can get rid of some serious cash here. One of my favourite shops has old Catholic church stuff for sale, I would not decorate my house with it but it just blows my mind that you can actually by an enormous Jesus to hang on your wall...

The main entrance
These enormous machines are at the gallery maybe they are used for weaving cloth...

Then on to the artisan market for some souvenir shopping. We picked up a couple of colourful pillow covers for the bedroom. You can always try to haggle a bit, sometimes you get a discount, sometimes you don't. Shelagh did and got 20% off her purchase price.

The artisan market continues for several city blocks
It's laundry day across the street from the fish taco joint

Then on to our little fish taco joint for a bite to eat. A shrimp taco for Shelagh and two tilapia tacos for me all washed down with a couple of Indio cervesas. We wiled away an hour and a half here before going to the butcher shop for some bacon, chicken breasts and pork chops. Then for the 20 minute cardio workout walk back home and we're ready for an easy peasy afternoon on the roof deck. Oh my it will be difficult to leave this peublo magico! Meanwhile the temperatures are rising and the house is warming up nicely. Tonight we will have pork chops with roasted potatoes and green beans with carrots. Life is good...

    1. In six days we'll be back at the clinic to have the stitches removed. She is sore, but in good spirits, mostly wine... Haha! Crazy how a simple trip up can mess things up.

  5. Fabrica Aurora made manta, the beigey kind of fabric used for shirts, pants and other clothing. It was still operational when the family that opened it started to transition to art galleries. I think that started happenind 8-10 years ago. It was a sad day when the last textile workers left.
